On July 3rd, 2018, the Emergency Management Commission met in an emergency session (pursuant to Iowa Code 21.4(2)(b)) to discuss the current levels of the lakes in Dickinson County. After taking input from residents and state and local officials, the Emergency Management Commission today implemented a lake-wide emergency 5 mile per hour speed limit. This rule will be in effect immediately for ALL lakes in Dickinson County until such tile that further action is taken by the Emergency Management Commission.
This rule will help prevent further lake shore damage and potential impacts to critical public infrastructure.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is the enforcement agency for this emergency rule.
