Starting in the spring of 2023, the Iowa Department of Transportation will be replacing the pavement on U.S. 71 and the sidewalks from Okoboji Grove Road in Arnolds Park through Okoboji View Avenue in Okoboji. Tentatively, the project is scheduled to be completed in four phases over two years. Road work will occur during the region’s “off-peak” tourist season.
There will be no road construction between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Access to all businesses along Highway 71 corridor will remain open during all phases of construction.
With the exception of four weeks in the Fall of 2023, north/south access through the corridor will remain in some function. You may encounter temporary signals, flaggers, detours or the like– but access to all businesses and travel through the corridor will remain.
